There is an airport in Taitung, playing the main roll of domestic connecting of Taipei to Taitung, and Taitung to 2 offshore islands, Green Island and Orchid Island.
Although Taitung airport is listed and assigned as one of the airport approved to operate some regional charter flights to China and Hong Kong (and for twice to Japan and once to Korea), however, a charter flight is still a charter flight, no any single passenger can expect his planned travelling date to Taitung to be matched with the charter flight schedule perfect!
From Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, the most efficient way to get to Taitung is definitely by AIR! Currently only 2 Airlines operating daily 4~6flights between Taitung & Taipei.

2nd Step: Choose your destination! You are flying to Taitung!
3rd Step: Choose to fly(or purchase) one way or return flight!
4th Step: Click on the calendar of your expecting travelling dates! When flights are available, flight information will be popped out below the calendar!
5th Step: Once flight available, available fare types will be shown on the flight you click on! Be noted, weekend flights are less promotional fares available!
6th Step: Choose your ideal fare:
*One Year Open Ticket: You may use this ticket within 1 year after purchase! In case you miss your reservation flight, you are free to change to the next available flight without any surcharge! Refund policy requires 10% service charge of the full fare price!
This fare is the most common used one!
*Army Discount: Well, I don't think you will be serving for Taiwan government, so please forget about this discount!
*Limited Promotional Fare: Promotional fare is only valid on the flight reservation shown in your booking record! In case you miss the reserved flight, you can still use the ticket, but fare difference to the One Year Open ticket will be charged while you check in your flight!
Refund policy requires!
*Child Fare Child in the age of 3~12Years old!
*Senior Fare Passengers in the age of 65 or above!
7th Step: If you have return date planned, you may choose to purchase the return ticket as well! But the selection has to be done earlier than this procedure!
8th Step: Check the box of "I've read"....bla bla bla...well, as most online shopping does!
9th Step: Please double check with the reservation details before filling in the passenger information and payment details!

About the correct format of filling the passenger name, please follow the format of
FirstName/LastName if your name is more than one word, no need any space or marks in between! Only to break your first and last name by a "/" sign! No space too!
Passport number or any Id card with photos is acceptable! But be sure to present that card/document for your check-in procedure in the airport!
OK, the weird parts are coming! The contact information of "Taiwan Mobile" & "Email address" is required. However, if you are not in Taiwan or never have a Taiwan mobile, does that mean you got no way to make reservation?
No...there are 2 solutions:
A. To ask for any of your friend's mobile number to be filled in this column! After reservation is completed, your friend will receive a flight confirmation short message!
B. To fill in a fake mobile number! The format of Taiwan mobile number is 09XX-XXX-XXX
Just try to type in any fake numbers to replace these "X", but no space and no "-" in between!
HOWEVER, your email address will be very important! Be sure to fill in correctly in order to receive the confirmation and the Eticket for this purchase!
11th Step: OK....use that small keyboard on screen to input your payment details then...you are ready to have your ticket issued!!

**Please be noted that, If in case you have to travel on certain date but no flights available, try to return to main page and try to book "Business Class". Most of UNI flight provides business class on a higher price with wider and more comfortable seats, of course, although you don't really feel much different service standard, after all, that's only a 40min flight!

When all flight and fare are sort out, time to fill in the passenger and contact person information!
Since you don't have Taiwan ID number, you may leave that column blank.
For contact person information, you have to fill-in A.Mobile phone or Landline, b. Fax No or Email address! The Uni Air System seems smarter a bit that you may choose to scroll the correct country code for your mobile, however, the system won't send you any confirmation to your mobile phone if your mobile is not registered in Taiwan anyways!
Double check again about all these information, and you are about to process with the payment details!
Uni Air online system accept more card types than Mandarin Airlines. All the compulsory columns of a online payment normally goes similar with any of your experience. However, there is only only small box that you may leave that blank behind the expiry date. That box is reserved for these public officers in Taiwan to keep the purchase for special invoice that they may reimbursed as part of annual bonus! Forget about that, that's not our story then!
After you click on "confirm", you are ready to have your ticket issued!
For your information:
Promotion fare restriction and refund policy is quite similar with Mandarin Airlines. If you are not sure you will be able to catch up the flight on time, it will be wiser to book for the full fare ticket to avoid paying the surcharge in airport in case of you miss the flight you paid by Promotional fare!
To refund the ticket always requires about 10% service charge of full fare and normally it takes about 60~90days for you to get the refund! In case basically any passenger still has any opportunity to travel within a year, it's recommended to keep the ticket and choose to travel some other day! A full fare ticket is entitled to reroute to opposite destination. For example, if you've paid for a Taipei-->Taitung one way year round full fare ticket, in case you missed your flight and you need to use that ticket, you can use same ticket for Taitung to Taipei sector without any service charge!
Promotional fares, or Advance purchase will allow you some discount of NTD1800 with advance payment. If you are always a "Last Minute Decision Maker" like me, spend a bit more up to NTD2200 to pay in Airport counter by simply calling the reservation hotline for seat reservation without advance payment! (terms might subject to some conditions!)
Sometimes, advance planning for your holiday might allow you a better deal of your Taitung Holiday!
